Amid political and environmental conflicts, Jon Lee Anderson, American writer and The New Yorker's war correspondent, came to Brazil to report on the situation of the Amazon. To do so, Larissa Zaidan, photographer and director of Stink Films, was invited by the publication to document the work.
In the report, the journalist revealed the current status of Novo Progresso city in Pará and the Baú Reserve, which is near the municipality. Along the experience, Jon discloses the tension in the region and so does Larissa, through her camera and impactful photographs.
"It was one of the most profound and challenging experiences of my life. It is heartbreaking to see how the last few years have devastated the Amazon and many indigenous people. Although I always try to portray circumstances like this with delicacy and dignity, it's still very heavy and dispirited," said Larissa.
