On Saturday April 5th, the rooftop of Paramount House Hotel was transformed into a celestial haven of sound, as Sonar Music’s Jono Ma curated an evening of psychedelic electronica, immersive hi-fi audio, and rooftop revelry under the night sky.
The highlight of the night was an exploratory live set from MYSTICS, a shape-shifting electronic project helmed by Jono Ma and Jonti.
“Armed with a suite of analog synths and inspired by Ralf and Florian’s early Kraftwerk psychedelia,”Jono said. "We dove into early electronica, Japanese ambient, and Krautrock-tinged psych jams.”
Kicking off the night, Sonar Music’s own Josh Pearson (aka D.D. Mirage) and Jackson Mico Milas delivered lush, atmospheric vinyl sets that set the tone for the sonic journey ahead.
Guests were treated to expertly crafted cocktails and natural wines courtesy of Ester Spirits, with delicious eats provided by Golden Age Cinema & Bar, creating a multi-sensory experience that blended sound, taste, and atmosphere.
Now based back in Sydney, Jono Ma has recently collaborated on campaigns for Coca-Cola and Bonds and is currently developing several immersive projects — one of which is set to be his most ambitious yet. Keep an eye out for a major announcement in the coming weeks.
This one-of-a-kind experience was brought to life by Great Southern Nights, HQ Sydney, and Paramount House Hotel, with creative direction and music curation by Sonar Music.
