Wunderman Thompson are the inspiration experts. Because of this, we know that inspiration doesn’t come from any one place, but rather it should be drawn upon from a diverse and inclusive culture.
This allows us to see things differently, to reject conventional thinking and to push the boundaries of creative bravery. The emergence of hybrid working environments has meant that finding opportunities for meaningful connections and a sense of belonging are more important to protect and nurture than ever before.
In this new environment, it’s imperative for businesses to actively build a diverse, equitable and inclusive workplace where everyone feels welcome, valued, and heard. Our Business Employee Resource Groups are just one way we bring people together and provide a positive forum for development, education and idea exchange around a common interest.
We now have 20 of these groups across the Wunderman Thompson network devoted to topics such as AAPI, Sustainability, Marginalized Ethnicities, Disability, Women and more. They’re a key component of what makes Wunderman Thompson inspiration experts, and ensure that their core values are reflected in every aspect of the company.
In 2022 the company added Business to the existing ERG program, which creates more opportunities for the diverse voices of employees to directly impact their work. This is just one way we’re putting inclusive experiences at the heart of our business to help drive growth for our clients, and something we’re passionate about sharing to inspire the wider industry. By incorporating these groups, we take ownership and responsibility for creating culturally competent work that drives conversation to enrich our culture and wider society.
Here are thoughts from their members on what inspired their creation, and how they use them to inspire change from their corner of the world.

Takudzwa> I am TK, the talent acquisition operations partner for Wunderman Thompson EMEA and I work within the People team. My role encompasses finding the best talent to join our business whilst ensuring our Talent teams across the region have what they need to operate efficiently.
Aside from work, you can find me scrolling Instagram endlessly, adding content to my saved dog folder and watching Manchester United, among many other things.
Takudzwa> Great things can happen when people with different backgrounds, cultures, and perspectives come together. In our industry, we produce campaigns that reach out to diverse audiences, so it is especially crucial to include cultural inspiration and diversity as a cornerstone of the creative process. Unfortunately, we have consistently seen insensitive or inappropriate campaigns,, which only underscores the importance of diversifying and culturally inspiring our teams. As part of my role, I am committed to doing just that and ensuring everyone feels valued and respected, regardless of their background or culture.
Takudzwa> At NOIR, we are committed to making a positive impact in the marketing, advertising, and technology industries. We believe that by embracing our differences and celebrating diversity, we can create a more authentic and culturally rich environment. Our goal is to break down barriers and inspire change, empowering professionals from all backgrounds to reach new heights.
One of our proudest achievements is our recent event “Young, Gifted and Black”.” As a company located in the heart of North London, we are passionate about inspiring our local students. This event allowed them to explore the possibilities within our industry and learn more about the exciting careers available to them.
Through a panel discussion featuring our black colleagues and an interactive workshop, we aimed to equip students with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in this field. We wanted to leave them feeling inspired and uplifted, regardless of their prior experience or familiarity with the industry.
Our hope is that this event will serve as a model for other ERGs (Employee Resource Groups) looking to make a positive impact in their communities. By celebrating diversity and creating opportunities for growth and development, we can all work together to shape a brighter future.
Takudzwa> Across the senior or executive levels of our industry, there appears to be a lack of diversity, which is a concern for us all. Our aim is to create a support group that will provide education, training, and encouragement to help break down these barriers. Our ultimate goal is to provide a platform for individuals from all backgrounds to succeed in these positions and inspire future generations to enter and excel in the industry.
Takudzwa> Being part of this group has given me an amazing sense of belonging and togetherness. It’s a place where we can be ourselves without fear of judgment or scrutiny. Our mission to shape and impact the future of diverse individuals who join Wunderman Thompson is truly inspiring. We believe in inspiring growth for ambitious brands, and together with NOIR, we can inspire people and bring about generational change.
Takudzwa> Growing up in Zimbabwe, I was fortunate to have a big supportive community around me. They helped instil in me the value of togetherness and the importance of looking out for one another, regardless of our differences. It’s a beautiful thing that I believe can also be fostered in a workplace environment. This creates a safe and welcoming space where everyone is respected, heard, and supported, regardless of their background or individual circumstances.
Takudzwa> I strongly advise other agencies to have complete faith in their mission. At Wunderman Thompson, we are fortunate to have visionary leaders and a business that understands the value of fostering a strong sense of community among our employees. When everyone wholeheartedly believes in improving diversity and embracing inclusivity, the impact is significant. Our ERG is dedicated to taking everyone on our journey and inspiring change, allowing people to leave their mark with confidence!
