Today, HAYMAKER, the LA-based minority-owned independent agency bringing the strategically creative ruckus, announces the appointment of Jorge Andrade as design director.
In this newly created role, Andrade will collaborate closely with the executive team to expand HAYMAKER’s design studio. His remit will include generating innovative cross-platform ideas for the agency’s full roster of clients, which includes Topo Chico, Greenlight, and Unibet, among other brands. Based in Los Angeles, Andrade will report directly to founder and chief creative officer Jay Kamath.
“Can I use the term ‘giddy?’ Great. We’re giddy to welcome Jorge to the team,” said Kamath. “Our design studio has seen tremendous growth over the course of the past year, and it reached a point where we knew we needed an accomplished leader at its helm. Enter Jorge, who we have no doubt will continue to grow this offering and uplevel our clients’ design work.”
Andrade brings over a decade’s experience in brand identity, campaign design, and art direction. Prior to joining HAYMAKER, he served as executive design director at The Many. During his tenure, Andrade turned a once two-person production design team into a full-service design studio composed of 15+ talented and driven multidisciplinary designers and animators who delivered high-speed work without compromising quality. He has spearheaded brand identity development and campaign design work for Google, YouTube, Apple TV+, Panda Express, Nestle Toll House, eBay, American Apparel, and IMAX, among other brands, garnering recognition from the Clio and Shorty Awards.
“I’ve always been driven by the desire to make a meaningful impact on the world of design and advertising. HAYMAKER’s reputation for bold and impactful work presented an ideal platform to channel my passion and skills towards achieving this aspiration,” said Andrade. “The agency’s status as a minority-owned business also holds profound significance for me; I am openly gay, a person of color, and an immigrant / DREAMer. Seeing individuals from similarly diverse walks of life occupy leadership positions at HAYMAKER helped me feel seen, valued, and invigorated to become part of this team.”
This news comes on the heels of HAYMAKER becoming officially certified as a minority-owned business last month.
