Havas London has appointed Nathalie Gordon as creative partner – with chief creative officer Vicki Maguire tasking her with starting fires, causing trouble, and making a dent in culture. She joins Vicki, and joint executive creative directors Dan Cole and Andy Garnett, in driving the agency’s creative agenda, as well as nurturing young and up-and-coming talent throughout the department.
Nathalie joins Havas permanently after a 15-month stint freelancing at the agency, as well as a number of other freelance roles over the past decade at agencies including BBC Creative, Uncommon, Pablo, and Mother’s The Or.
At Havas, she has (already) been responsible for Asda’s ‘Incredibublé’ 2023 Christmas campaign starring Michael Bublé and directed by Taika Waititi, and the supermarket’s major new brand platform ‘That’s More Like It’; as well as the NHS Blood & Transplant partnership with Heart Radio, which saw the station rebranded as ‘Not Just Heart’ for Organ Donation Week 2023. As creative partner, she will report into Maguire and work across Havas London’s entire client portfolio.
Vicki says, “Nat has a ridiculous back catalogue and a unique set of skills – you can chuck her at anything and still be surprised what she comes up with – and I’m so excited, not to mention a little scared, she’s finally decided to ‘settle down’ with our crew. Among other things, I’ve challenged her to start fires and cause trouble. It’s a brief I’d have loved earlier in my career, and it’s bang on for Nat.
“Most importantly, she adheres to our strict ‘no arseholes’ policy. She combines brilliant ideas with brilliant relationships. Our people – not just the creative department but across the business – will love and learn from her. I know this, as I’m one of them. My job is to get out of her way.”
Nathalie adds, “Vicki, Dan, and Andy wanted to add a pyrotechnic to the team, so naturally I couldn’t say no. I’ve spent a long time trying to find my crew – the people you want to work with, not just for. Havas London, and the culture spearheaded by Vicki and [James] Fox [CEO] in particular, feels it’s found its groove, and I know I feel really lucky to help push on that trajectory…starting a few fires along the way, naturally.”
