Guitar Legends Join Mark Knopfler for Special Recording for Teenage Cancer Trust

Electric Studios are honoured to have added visuals to this legendary gathering of iconic musicians in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust and Mark Knopfler’s new special recording of his anthemic ‘Going Home (Theme From Local Hero)’, produced by his long time collaborator Guy Fletcher. 

The new star-studded track features an unprecedented line-up of some of the greatest guitarists in history. Gilmour to Wood, Slash to Clapton, Springsteen to Townshend, May to Iommi, and many more jaw-dropping names. On top of it all the track opens with Jeff Beck’s final recording. 

Plugging in and rocking out a music video for this 10-minute track was a challenge we were excited to take on, and with such a variety of artists, it allowed us to flex all of our animation muscles, from mesmerising 3D plectrums to cel-animated guitar legends smashing their guitars, we threw everything at it to make sure we fully visualised this historic new recording in all its rock glory. 

Sam Tootal, creative director said, “With a track comprising around 67 world renowned musicians, it was comforting to be working directly with music producer Guy Fletcher. Together with our super talented Electric Studios artists we crafted a journey through the track, taking ambient visual cues from live gig atmospheres and rock symbolism, whilst granular detail was applied to weaving in rock icons, guitar strings, instruments and a multitude of contributing musicians names.”
