The savviest of online shoppers know to head to eBay for even the most hard-to-find goods from all over the world. To highlight the vast array of items that can be found on the international marketplace, eBay linked up with Brand New School and agency Goodby Silverstein & Partners for their “Shop a Song” campaign.
The five-spot campaign combines live action and animation and is set to songs by Billy Joel, Warren G. & Nate Dogg, Ke$ha, Florida Georgia Line, and Vance Joy. Deceptively simple, but clever, transitions synchronize with the lyrics to produce a series of spots that are as fun to watch as they are to sing along to.
The team at Brand New School’s Los Angeles office had to get creative with some of the more abstract moments, with each lyric turning into a puzzle to solve.
“The limitless feel of the site inspired the playfulness of the imagery as well as the transitions,” said Bisi. “A big inspiration was the seemingly infinite variety of items that can be purchased on eBay – from a gold-plated toy crossbow to a giant inflatable Velcro wall with accompanying Velcro bodysuit.”
