The 'Behind the Scenes' campaign continues to peek behind the curtain of life on set with the loveable GEICO gecko. In this spot, Laughing Fit, the gecko attempts to shoot a TV commercial as per usual, but after fluffing his lines ends up with the giggles.
"Shooting the spot was fairly straightforward," explains David Hulin, Animation Director and VFX Supervisor, "We worked hard with Roman [Coppola, Director] rehearsing script stumbling moments and the kind of real on-set distractions that lead to actors breaking down into hysterics. We were able to use this reference to inform both camera work and the perfromance of the gecko."
"The animation team had a great time on this spot," adds Jim Hundertmark, Animation Lead, "We had a hard time keeping a straight face during anim reviews. When a laugh is successful, it gets the viewer laughing along. That was our end goal, to have the audience giggling right along with the Gecko."
