Finish Colourist Julien Biard has helped directing trio Crowns & Owls tell a bungling, albeit stylish, crime-caper for the launch of Ted Baker’s T for Tall SS15 range.
Produced through White Lodge, ‘T for Tall’ stars British Swimming Champion Mark Foster and promotes the designer’s exclusive range, for gentlemen 6’3 and UP.
Foster finds out that it’s not just settling for sartorial half measures that proves to be problematic for tall people – it’s stashing them into the back of getaway cars too. Having been seized by a trio of dim-witted gangsters, the swimmer watches on as his captors struggle to fit him into their ‘tiny motor’.
Having seen Foster on Strictly Come Dancing, they can’t decide whether he is a swimmer or dancer - eventually having squeezed him in, they drive off, leaving Mark’s long legs hanging from the boot.
Julien comments: “In ‘T For Tall’ we tried to find the right balance between darkness and grittiness without losing the fashion aspect. We wanted to give the film a gangster feel but the main focus was to enhance the colours of the clothing.
“We used French Director Jean Pierre Melville’s classic L’armee des Ombres (Army of Shadows) as a point of reference - which I was very happy about, as it’s one of my favourite Melville films! It was a great pleasure to use this as a reference and working with the Crowns & Owls crew is always good fun.”
T For Tall is a stylish and uncompromising collection of clothing and footwear for tall gentlemen. A capsule wardrobe of summer essentials available online at Tedbaker.com.
