FSM has announced the addition of Phil Meatchem, formerly of Filmgraphics, to its creative roster. As a director and animation director, he brings a wealth of TVC experience to the post-production, design, visual effects and animation house.
Meatchem’s skills add a new dimension of talent and experience to FSM’s busy team as it embraces the growing needs of all clients. He is equally adept at live-action as he is animation and helped develop some of Australia’s most iconic animated characters including Louie the Fly, Mr. Reach and various others for Optus and Whiskas.
Executive producer Dave Kelly said they had been fortunate to have him working with FSM in a few different guises of late. “Phil has been our client as well as directing and supervising animation,” Kelly said. “He’s assisted with several pitches and concept development via his incredible character designs and storyboards. To have someone of his calibre and experience enhance our team is a timely opportunity that we’re all very excited about.”
Meatchem’s illustration, character design and painting also carry significant weight in the art world and his talents were showcased recently with another finalist nod at the 2013 Bald Archy Prize.
Meatchem is in equal parts enthusiastic and feeling very much at home at FSM.
"Having worked a lot with the team over the years, and particularly in recent months as a creative collaborator, I feel inspired and re-energized,” he said. “They are at an exciting stage of the company's journey, and it is a good fit for me both personally and professionally."

Meatchem will work alongside FSM’s creative directors, Emile Rademeyer and Andreas Wanda. The team is currently completing a TVC campaign for DDB and most recently directed campaigns for Coco Pops via JWT and the Mobius Grand Prix-winning commercial for Animals Australia via Loud... “Phil’s expertise as a story teller and live action director will continue to raise the bar even higher for all animation based work produced at FSM,” Kelly said.
