Leading independent post-production company FSM has created a TV, cinema and online campaign, “Somewhere”, featuring a CG pig for animal cruelty prevention charity, Animals Australia.
FSM managed all components of the campaign from edit, high end 3D animation and final integration with supplied footage.
The CG pig, named Peanut, takes viewers to a real factory farm before she sings and flies to freedom.
Commissioned by Animals Australia and agency LOUD, the campaign launches on 23rd October. A two minute version will broadcast in cinemas nationally, while a 60 second version was created for TV and online.
FSM managing director Rick Schweikert said: “It was a privilege to collaborate with Animals Australia and LOUD to create a campaign which we hope raises awareness of factory farming.”
“The CG team that brought Peanut to life comprised many talents and allowed us to complete Somewhere to a world class standard.”
FSM creative director Andreas Wanda commented: “FSM has significantly built its animation and 3D capabilities over the last 18 months, and Somewhere was the perfect gig to sink our teeth into.”
Wanda continues: "Somewhere proved to be a rewarding project on many levels; it was technically challenging with a subject that we all hope gets the recognition it deserves.”
Animals Australia creative director Karen Nilsen said: “Animals Australia believes in creating a better world for all through promoting kindness to animals. Our goal is to significantly and permanently improve the welfare of all animals in Australia. We are thrilled to be launching this campaign in partnership with LOUD and FSM.”
To create Peanut, a cute and endearing life-like pig who can sing and fly, FSM shot hundreds of reference photos along with slow motion footage captured at 60 frames per second with a 10 week old pig.
The challenge FSM had to overcome was that Peanut had to look heavy, but plausibly lift off the ground as she flies to freedom. And sing. With chickens.
