Florence Welcomes Director Jay Walker

The Los Angeles-based creative studio, FLORENCE, has signed director Jay Walker for representation in the US. The Berlin-based director is a multi-disciplinary storyteller, working across short films, commercials, and music videos.

Jay is an avowed champion of the short-form medium with a style that is surreal and luminescent, often using lighting that is later digitally enhanced to forge an ethereal, futuristic tone unique to her films. An expert with advanced motion graphics and animation, her work combines these processes with live action to create her signature look. Commercial clients of Walker’s include Dell, Fortnite, and Coachella, and she’s helmed music videos for innumerable European musicians, as well artists on the world stage like Lazer Viking, Zef, and Diplo.

Jay fell in love with filmmaking early on. Born and raised in the American Southwest, Jay was a child actor cast in commercials, TV series, and feature films before she began creating characters and worlds of her own. She started directing short format films, relocated to the Czech Republic, and eventually graduated with a Masters of Fine Arts in Cinema from the Czech National Film School, FAMU. Walker also learned the Czech language, which has enabled her to thrive as one of the few women directors working in the commercial space in Prague. Her directing career has taken her all across Europe and the United States.

While FLORENCE will represent her for projects in the live-action space, Jay is also an accomplished wizard in VFX and animation and an early adoptee of advanced virtual production with tools like Unreal Engine. She’s frequently collaborated with 3D artist and musician NIVVA, whose artistic presence is as a digital avatar. For her work in virtual production and visual effects, Walker’s talents are also bolstered and represented by Impossible Objects.
