FANCY congratulates Lindsay Daniels on Clio Entertainment Double Win!
Lindsay’s campaign for Paramount’s 'Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies' took home a Silver Clio Award. Her teaser spots for 'Fatal Attraction' won Bronze.
'Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies' motion content was part of a larger marketing shoot in Vancouver, Canada captured on the set of the show. The entire campaign, including the video, stills, key art, and behind-the-scenes featurettes was captured in only two days. That meant time constraints were the biggest challenge. Lindsay and her motion crew only had four hours to work with the actors and capture all the content, but with clear communication and ultra-detailed preparation they were able to successfully getting their ambitious shotlist. When the Pink ladies arrived on set, her crew knew exactly what they needed to do and how quickly they needed to move. There were no surprises.
One of the special things about this shoot was the female leadership and support that showed up on all levels. In total, more than 90 women contributed to the campaign. Including key roles at Paramount+, the key art photographers Sophy Holland and Ramona Rosales, and Lindsay Daniels, the director.
From Lindsay, “There was a positive and fiercely feminine energy flowing through our set. I loved that Ramona, Sophy, and I all showed up to the project wearing our black leather biker jackets. We’d never met but were kindred spirits… looking a little more like T-Birds than Pink Ladies. Our hot pink nails balanced things out a bit.”
'Fatal Attraction' was a very different project with completely different messages to communicate. The biggest challenge - and opportunity - on this project for Lindsay was to come up with concepts and craft the vision for promos from the ground up. She says: “After reading the script and hearing the showrunners talk about their approach, it was important for our promos to reflect Alex’s point of view… in 15 seconds. I wanted to focus on her and get in her head, so I used a simple camera push into Lizzy Caplan’s eyes. You feel her drawn in - as if she is plotting. When you see the campaign together it solidifies. I found a lot of creative inspiration in music for this project. While coming up with ideas I listened to a lot of Cat Power and Beyonce’s Crazy in Love on repeat. Emotionally capturing the psychotic lure of her voice felt right for this project.”
