Ezra Collective’s Latest Promo Flits between London and Zambia in 'Life Goes On'

Ezra Collective’s Latest Promo Flits between London and Zambia in 'Life Goes On'

Biscuit's Nathan Miller directs Ezra Collective’s 'Life Goes On' music video.

'Life Goes On' is the new single from acclaimed London-based new wave jazz ensemble Ezra Collective, off their new album 'Where I'm Meant to Be,’ out on Partisan Records. The electric, sprawling video was shot on location in the heatwave gripped streets of East London and the relentlessly kinetic Zambian capital Lusaka. The track features Sampa The Great, who joins Ezra Collective in the video. The track is a thrilling mix of Afrobeat, London jazz, and hip hop, that includes a nod to Fela Kuti's 1972 record "Shakara Oloje," while making a social statement of its own.

The band explain: “London meets Lusaka. Moments of Joy, moments of struggle, but United in a spirit that we must carry on. Life must go on... We write our music with a consistent will to push the boundaries of what we can mix jazz with. This incorporates the energies of southern African vibes, mixed with our own style of London jazz. And no better person to voice this beauty than the queen, Sampa the Great.”

Biscuit Filmworks’ head of music and special projects Andrew Law says: “We’re thrilled to share Nathan’s video for ‘Life Goes On,’ which after some time of honing his craft as an exceptional and sought-after documentary filmmaker, marks his first official music video. Nathan is a gifted director who has a knack for capturing the vitality and raw energy of his subjects. We’re proud to have been trusted by Ezra Collective and Sampa The Great, who’s work we have long been huge fans of, to take their message of unity and joy and amplify it in this piece.”
