All the motion graphics for the Pràctica identity were animated by Gerard Mallandrich

BOL and Pràctica created the visual identity for Spatial, an innovative festival powered by Monom Studios and located in Berlin that offers a unique experience in spatial sound and immersive technologies. All the motion graphics for the Pràctica identity were animated by Gerard Mallandrich.

The augmented sonic reality experience is captured in the visuals through an immersive identity that becomes a space in itself. It is not just a moving identity, it is an identity you can move in.

Device's piece was centered around the use of space and time, utilising typography and a black-and-white colour palette as the sole elements. Their aim was to create an enthralling experience by combining hypnotic visuals with engaging music.

The festival aims to offer a fresh music experience, and this concept was translated into the line up video by incorporating a transformative and multidimensional atmosphere. Rather than a concrete story, Device aim was to create typographic compositions with carefully designed transitions, with a digital style that evokes an organic and analog feel.

To enhance this analog aesthetic, additional elements such as lighting, focus distance, depth-based blurring, grain, and glass textures were incorporated, introducing subtle yet impactful changes that enhanced the clarity of the overall piece.

The 3D animation played an essential role in creating a rhythmic and immersive atmosphere. The kinetic typography, marked by pauses, speed, and abstraction, worked in perfect harmony with the limited visual elements, giving the piece a techy, experimental mood.

Music and sound design were key to building this sonic journey, working to blur the line between visual and audio experience. The tone and mood of the music is dark and calm, emanating depth and dynamism, at the same time. Playing with many contrasting frequencies, linking them to the black and white aesthetics and incorporating crystalline tones for the transparent materials.

The whole project represented a great opportunity for experiment with kinetic typography and music, building a minimalistic, yet enticing world that would take the viewers on a unique, audiovisual journey.
