Jenni previously worked at IPG as general manager for MENA in Dubai

Edelman, the global communications firm, has appointed Jenni Mercer as UK head of healthcare marketing. The appointment follows several key senior hires over the last year and reflects the diversification and growth of Edelman’s healthcare offer.

Jenni has over 20 years of integrated healthcare marketing experience across APAC, EMEA, and UK markets. She previously worked at IPG as general manager for MENA in Dubai and latterly as their London-based global business director for the GSK and AbbVie brands, where she focused on integrating agency teams on pitches, building new revenue streams, and onboarding new clients. During her career, Jenni has fostered successful and long-term client relationships in addition to developing new business.

Jenni’s hire reflects Edelman’s commitment to strengthen its health marketing offer after the recent appointment of Nils Giese to healthcare marketing lead for EMEA. Jenni will work closely with Nils, and the local market health leads across the region. She will also partner with Eleanor Read, managing director for health in London, to broaden Edelman's services to clients within the health ecosystem.

Eleanor said, “Over the past three years we have been proactively diversifying our Health work and team, to meet the evolving needs of clients, who are increasingly looking for integration within their agencies. This latest move builds on the strong foundations built out of Germany in brand sales support and our successful development of a robust Global Public Health portfolio. Jenni’s experience and profile makes her the ideal partner for Nils and the perfect person to grow our offer from the UK.”

The rapid growth of Edelman’s healthcare sector has continued apace. Over the last three years, Edelman’s health business within EMEA grew by 44% due to new assignments for existing clients and the addition of new clients across all markets in the region.
