Ed Sheeran, Alessia Cara and Jamie Scott Among BMI Pop Winners

Sheeran and Scott were both honoured at the 65th annual event held Tuesday night at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills, California for co-penning the hit “Cold Water”, which was recorded by Major Lazer featuring Justin Beiber and MO. Sheeran was further recognised for “Love Yourself”, also recorded by Justin Bieber, as Scott won for the One Direction smash “Drag Me Down”.

In total 17 Sony/ATV songs were among the winners at the ceremony, which recognised the most-performed pop songs in the United States over the past year. These wins included “Wild Things” and “Here” for Alessia Cara, the latter alongside Warren Felder (aka OAK), while Sony/ATV songwriter Eric Frederic (aka Ricky Reed) won for the Meghan Trainor hits “Me Too” and “No”.

The night’s other Sony/ATV winners included Taylor Swift for the Calvin Harris/Rihanna hit “This Is What You Came For”, Pink for “Just Like Fire”, Sam Smith for “Lay Me Down” and Flo Rida for “My House”.
