The internationally renowned Driven Project made its 2025 Australian premiere last night with a high-speed event that gave 30 children from the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundation and Ronald McDonald House Charities a chance to experience the thrill of ‘supercar therapy’.
Powering into the third year of events being held on Australian soil, the Driven Project is a nonprofit organisation with one simple yet ambitious goal: to provide critically and chronically ill children with the best day through transformative ‘supercar therapy’ experiences.
‘Supercar Therapy’ was created to provide these brave kids a joyful escape, helping them stay resilient during their health challenges and creating unforgettable memories for them, and their families.
The event, held at the Sydney Motorsport Park, Eastern Creek, offers these very deserving kids a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to ride in iconic Supercars.
Kevin Gordon, founder and executive director of Driven Project, said, “The Driven Project is elated to return to Sydney to create incredible moments and unforgettable memories for a remarkable group of 30 children. With the help of our extraordinary partners, the VIP kids and their families will receive the ride of a lifetime on track at the Sydney Motorsport Park, helping them keep driving forward on the road to recovery."
Colin Allen, chief philanthropy officer at SCHF, said, “Delivering positive patient experiences helps us create wonderful memories and improve the confidence and happiness of children and their families. Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundation is thrilled to have the opportunity to partner with The Driven Project to deliver an unforgettable experience, offering a sense of joy and excitement for a group of very deserving kids and their families.”
Claire Barber, CEO of Ronald McDonald House Charities Greater Western Sydney, said, “Ronald McDonald Houses offer vital services that ease the financial, emotional, and psychological burdens faced by families with sick or injured children. Creating happy memories and connections is a core part of our mission, made possible by initiatives like the Driven Project. We are deeply grateful to the Driven Project for inviting families from our Randwick and Westmead Houses to be part of this once-in-a lifetime experience.”
Laurence Escalante, entrepreneur, said, “I love being involved with the Driven Project in both Sydney and Perth, as the focus of the events is to create an unforgettable time for all the kids at the track. Sharing my passion for Supercars with them and watching the kids enjoying the unique opportunity of ‘Supercar Therapy’ is a humbling experience for everyone involved to be a part of.”
To help bring this event to life, the Driven Project has partnered with Mr Escalante’s The LEE Collection, Sydney Motorsport Park, the Australian Racing Drivers Club, Sydney Children's Hospital Foundation, and Ronald McDonald House Charities Sydney.
