TrePalm director Chris Di Staulo has joined forces with up-and-coming Toronto singer-songwriter Brianna Corona to direct the video for her EP title track ‘Words.'
Chris Di Staulo’s latest directorial project, shot by cinematographer Mike Onley, brings the visible grace and beauty to a pop song that reflects on relationships and mixed messages, where the story is not only told by Brianna but also by Danielle Ching and Yan Carlos Medina, who articulate Brianna’s messages through dance.
Chris felt the dancing added so much to the production of Brianna's 'Words' and the song's statement: “This music video is all about expressing the message of Brianna’s song through dance. With Yan and Danielle, we had two dancers that were an absolute treat to work with and we could not have had a better team to work with. They gave so much soul to the shoot and the story. It’s the extension of the emotion of the song and of the dancing.”
Having directed for a number of years, Chris mentioned that this was the first shoot he’s done entirely on a gimbal, where the camera meanders with Brianna and the dancers around a large, earthy space. Seamless production became a factor in the shoot’s success.
Upon arriving to set, Chris felt the immediate symbiosis of the production team and talent, feeling a healthy creative vibe as the day went on: “It’s exciting when you get to work with a team that gels right away. Brianna was a pleasure to work with, especially Yan and Danielle. We were working with such a great team.”
