TrePalm creative Brendan Barnard directs the official video for Canadian band Bleeker’s single “Problems”, offering a window into the lives of these cool (and hilarious) musicians during quarantine. Taking the lyric “throw your problems in the air” to heart, Brendan’s intention was to capture the band members’ life in quarantine.
“To really link the song with the video, while capturing their daily activities, we decided to add in their daily problems as well,” Brendan remarks. “These problems not only fit perfectly with the context of the track, but also adding a great comedic element to the video.”
Brendan’s experience of directing was something completely brand new, and uncharted creatively for him.
“We created a shot list that covered everything that needed to be filmed and then discussed ideas on how to approach specific scenes. The footage that the band ended up shooting felt so personal and real because it was them that set up each frame and them that hit record.”
For Brendan it was a different experience not being able to physically be “on set” and communicate face-to-face, but for what was achieved, this was a notable accomplishment.
