Production powerhouse Park Pictures welcomes Atlas Acopian to its diverse and illustrious roster. This is his first commercial directing representation.
A graduate of Wesleyan University’s Film Studies department, Atlas is a queer Armenian director, photographer, and conceptual artist known for playful, witty work that often embraces new technologies. His impressive client list includes Adobe, Airbnb, Amazon Music, Budweiser, Chipotle, Coachella, Everlane, Facebook, Instagram, Interscope Records, MTV, Red Bull, Revlon, R/GA, T-Mobile, Sports Illustrated, Uber, W Hotels, and many more.
He has won a number of accolades from esteemed institutions including Forbes 30 Under 30, Young Guns 18, and the Adweek Creative 100, among others. Atlas has achieved finalist status at the Webbys and Shorty Awards, and was a Future of Storytelling Fellow. Him and his work have appeared in Refinery 29, NPR, Fast Company, NYLON, The Verge, VICE, Rolling Stone, Dazed, Harper’s Bazaar, BBC, Paper Mag, and Business Insider, to name a few.
From his nimble, fluid video A World Artist’s Love for AWAL, a London-based record label, shot entirely with a FPV drone, to being the recipient of the first-ever Grand Prize GIPHY awarded to Washed Up, a gif clocking in at a mere 15 seconds (the time limit for a GIF in the festival), Atlas proves that video doesn’t need to be long to get an emotion, concept, or story across.
Atlas’s satirical spoof website for Amazon Dating went viral around Valentine's Day in 2020, a commentary on the internet compounding modern humanity’s urge to acquire anything and everything as quickly as possible, whether it’s a jumbo pack of toilet paper or a Friday night date. “Atlas is curious, yet composed,” says Justin Pollock, managing director and EP at Park Pictures. “He manipulates perception and bends reality. His fresh and fun voice is a very welcome addition to our roster.”
“I’m really excited to be signed with Park; I feel very supported by them and I’m very much looking forward to collaborating with the entire team,” says Atlas. “The level of artistry amongst the directors they represent is super inspiring and I’m honoured to be in such amazing company. I can’t wait for the work we are going to make together!”
