"I’m driven to craft stories that celebrate the depth of human experience – where raw emotion meets cinematic artistry," said Angie

Truce Production Co. is adding celebrated storytelling director Angie Bird to its roster – a filmmaker whose raw, unflinching work has consistently challenged audiences for almost a decade. Truce will represent her for commercial work across Australia.

Angie's explosive new film, 'My Friend, Max Hate,' was recently listed amongst AdAge's Top 5 Creative Campaigns To Know About Right Now. Created for White Ribbon through North American agency Bensimon Byrne, the gut-punching short exposes the sinister machinery of online misogyny. The three-minute piece tracks a vulnerable teenage boy's descent into toxic masculinity via a puppet influencer peddling hatred disguised as empowerment – a chilling reflection of real-world radicalisation happening daily across social platforms.

It follows her equally powerful and confronting White Ribbon film 'Short Life Stories', which explored trans acceptance and swept up at the 2024 One SCREEN with six awards, including Best in Show.

"I’m driven to craft stories that celebrate the depth of human experience – where raw emotion meets cinematic artistry, creating work that’s honest, visually compelling and sends a strong message,” Angie said.

Angie has built her reputation by consistently delivering narratives that combine cinematic polish with authentic emotional heft. Her groundbreaking Gillette campaign, 'First Shave' – spotlighting transgender masculinity with remarkable sensitivity – dominated awards season, securing three Cannes Lions alongside Clio and One Show recognition. Her project 'Mean Tweets' for Raising the Roof earned Angie a Cannes Young Director Award whilst tackling the stereotypes around homelessness. Her work for the Myer 'Give Registry' that aimed to empower women escaping domestic violence was awarded two gold Clio’s and a silver Cannes Lion.

Elise Trenorden, executive producer at Truce, says, "What sets Birdie apart is her radar for stories that matter. Whether she is working with major brands or tackling urgent social issues, she finds the beating heart in every project."

Michael Ciccone, head of production at Truce, adds: "Her ability to craft visually stunning work that packs emotional weight is truly compelling, and it’s a privilege to add a director of her calibre to our roster."

Angie arrives at Truce at the pinnacle of her creative powers – poised to continue guiding campaigns that don't just win awards, but actually shift cultural perspectives.
