Inspired by a true story, Naga DDB Tribal's 'From The Heart' tells a simple tale of Mr. Tan’s small acts of kindness that comes back full circle when he least expects it
As we welcome the Year of the Ox in the midst of the pandemic, it seems as though Chinese New Year will be yet another quiet celebration for many. But with the mindset of a glass half full, Digi reminds Malaysians that the festive spirit is alive and well, and an unfamiliar celebration can be made more meaningful with a little more love and kindness in our hearts.
Inspired by a true story, 'From The Heart' tells a simple tale of Mr. Tan’s small acts of kindness that comes back full circle when he least expects it. On his annual delivery of fish as a CNY gift to his friends, he receives an unexpected phone call on his way home. Upon arrival he is surprised when the small family invites him to join their simple reunion dinner. A heartwarming moment reveals the inspiration behind his unassuming acts, and the kindness that is returned to him at a difficult time in his life.
Bernard Lee, Digi’s head of marketing services, commented: “In spite of the more modest Chinese New Year celebration this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the festive spirit remains well within our hearts as we strive to make it as special as possible for ourselves, and for those who matter the most to us. We should not let the situation dampen our hopes but rather, strengthen us collectively as a nation as we celebrate together in spirit, wherever we are. On behalf of Digi, we would like to wish all Malaysians a very Happy Chinese New Year and to stay safe and healthy this season.”
“Uncle Tan’s story is a reflection of the acts of so many Malaysians, who are doing small things that make a big difference in these times." added Ellison Fernandez, creative director, Naga DDB Tribal. "This simple yet relatable story is true to situations that many of us are facing, while it brings a message of empathy and hope. We have Mojo Films, and our other partners to thank, without whom this great Malaysian story would not be told. It was a challenge-riddled run but it was well worth it. To all ‘Uncle Tans’ out there, we thank you for the love you bring to those around you. Gong Xi Fa Cai to all.”
