In 2021, Deutsch NY embarked on its first-ever free, virtual, weeklong programme: Summer C.A.M.P. which drew rising talent from all over the world, bringing together the emerging creative community in a global way.
After a successful inaugural year, Summer C.A.M.P., which stands for Creative, Advertising, and Media Program, is back for year two – this time offering a new hybrid, virtual and in-person experience. The week-long, state-of-the-art programme is open to all and an opportunity for rising talent to learn everything from creative briefs to account management and gain clarity into what really goes on in agency life. This programme, unlike many internship or learning opportunities, is open at no cost or barrier to rising talent interested in learning about the industry. It also has a proven record of ushering in new talent directly to Deutsch NY, which hired stand out participants from last year, including Josh Teel, now Assistant Media Planner at the agency.
“We started this programme with the hopes we would break down barriers for new talent looking to enter into the industry,” said Celeste Bell, EVP, Director of Human Resources. “After seeing how much this experience meant to last year’s participants and the wide-ranging talent we attracted, we hope to continue to grow and evolve what C.A.M.P can be. As we head into the second year, we’re excited to be adding new elements and in-person opportunities that will make it a must-attend experience for anyone looking to enter into this industry.”
Participants can sign up for C.A.M.P., held August 1st - 5th, and learn more here. Registration is open until July 27 at midnight. This year, participants will engage in 20-minute Ask Me Anything (AMA) style networking and mentoring sessions. A Panel focused specifically on entry level challenges, including what to expect from a first job and how to get your foot in the door, will include 2021 CAMPer Josh Teel, Assistant Media Planner. In addition, Melatan Rider, EVP Art & Design of Deutsch NY will share insights into the design-side of the industry. CAMPers will also have the opportunity to sit in on a fireside chat between Deutsch NY’s CEO, Val DiFebo and its CCO, Samira Ansari. This chat will be held virtually and in-person, where breakfast will be served and participants will have the chance to network live with the agency. The week will culminate with a hack-a-thon, in which participants will be given a challenge to tackle together in groups, wrapping up the experience by putting the skills they’ve learned to the test.
“I’m so proud of our team for building this experience from the ground up and am excited about the possibilities it brings in making this industry a more accessible space for all,” said Val DiFebo, CEO. “Participants are given the necessary power of showing potential employers they have experience and knowledge in the industry. That’s often the only foot in the door aspiring talent needs as they look to land that first industry job and start a thriving career.”
