Carat US' senior manager and digital planner on finding inspiration, media trends and the best career advice he has received

In this interview, Christopher highlights the significance of daily routines that pave the way for achievement. Additionally, he shares the media trend that he thinks will continue to shape the ever-evolving landscape of the industry. 


Q> Do you have any daily routines or rituals that contribute to a successful day?

Christopher> Yes, my number one routine is waking up early to get a head start on the day. I use that time for a quick workout and then dedicate an hour to go through my emails and prioritize tasks. By doing this, I can get ahead of the day's challenges and be better prepared when the chaos ensues later on in the day.


Q> What's the best career advice you've received?

Christopher> The best advice I've ever received is to control the controllables. In client-facing roles, there are always unpredictable situations that can arise. However, if I focus on how I approach people, communicate effectively, and handle my work with diligence, I feel more in control and confident. It gives me peace knowing that I've done my best, and I don't stress about things beyond my control.


Q> Where do you find inspiration?

Christopher> I draw inspiration from successful people in various industries, including business leaders, marketers, and even athletes. I love watching interviews or reading about their journeys to success. Whether it's learning how they navigate challenges or adopt habits that help them excel, I find valuable insights that apply to my own professional growth.


Q> What media trend is impacting the industry that you're keeping an eye on?

Christopher> One media trend that has caught my attention is podcasts transitioning from audio to video. It opens up new opportunities for advertisers, especially in terms of product placements and branded content integrations. Seeing products in their natural environment through video can have a significant impact on consumer perception and influence purchasing decisions.

Christopher> At Carat, I prioritise designing for growth, both personally and professionally. Embracing diversity and learning from colleagues and clients across various backgrounds allows us to become better employees, advertisers, and individuals.
