Dentsu Creative Mexico, the creative network of the dentsu group, announces the appointment of Jonathan McVinish as its new chief creative officer, effective Monday, May 6th, reporting directly to Said Gil, its CEO. The new executive arrives to continue driving business growth and the creative reputation of the agency, which in recent months has given much to talk about.

“Mac is an undisputed talent, a creative with a craft-focused profile and a clear understanding of the innovation that we and our clients face on a day-to-day basis,” said Said Gil. The CEO stated that he had admired the creative's work for years, but had not managed to bring him on board at the agency until now. “I am confident that Mac will accelerate our growth and the role of creative thinking as a hallmark of all the solutions we make available to our clients. His integration is intended to support us in continuing to position Dentsu Creative as a benchmark in the market through strategic, creative and innovation solutions.”

With a degree in graphic design, animation and multimedia, Jonathan has evolved as a professional right at the intersection of technology and creativity. Throughout almost 20 years of experience, Jonathan has been part of agencies such as Leo Burnett, Proximity BBDO, JWT Mexico and Wunderman Thompson. In 2017 he assumed the creative leadership of KTBO, recently acquired by Globant, where he grew the business, winning accounts such as Google, YouTube, EA Sports LATAM, Cerveza Corona, among others. He then took the role of Creative VP at DraftLine - Grupo Modelo / AB InBev Mexico, where he managed, along with his team, to position the agency as number four in the ranking of El Ojo de Iberoamérica, and number 25 in LATAM for the first time in its history. His most recent experience was at Wunderman Thompson Mexico, currently VML, where he served as executive creative director, managing to add to the agency's client portfolio HSBC, Netflix, Riot Games and The North Face, with whom he developed different projects that were recognised as Grand Prix in Lumm Award, several golds in Circulo Creativo de Mexico and Effie LATAM.

“I am very happy to be joining dentsu,” Jonathan commented. “I am proud to be part of a talented team, which has been doing amazing work and attracting attention in the market. I want to continue to drive not only great ideas and business results, but also a culture of creativity, excellence and continuous improvement. My main goal is to add my knowledge and experience to empower Dentsu Creative's creativity and growth; to understand the consumer needs that grow our clients' businesses, leveraged with data and technology.”

The creative leader has a relevant trajectory, in which several projects stand out, among them the Global Warming Series campaign, developed for The North Face, which presented a futuristic clothing collection created to explore the uninhabitable world of the future, impacted by global warming. Developed with artificial intelligence and the collaboration of different designers, they presented clothing designs adapted to extreme living conditions that the brand hopes will never be needed.

“Mac is passionate about creativity and innovation, aspects that are reflected in the teams he has led throughout his career. That vision and experience connects to what we have been doing recently and the future we have set for ourselves at the agency,” said Said Gil. “Together we have the opportunity to continue to build a unique company that integrates creative, technology, data, media, entertainment and commerce to become the most attractive place for talent and the most relevant partner for our current and future clients.”

Jonathan's appointment is surrounded by the moment the agency is experiencing in the market, after being recognised within the Top three creative agencies according to the Círculo Creativo de México by obtaining two Grand Prix out of the four given in Círculo de Oro 2024, added to the successes in Cannes Lions 2023, several London International Awards, and the first two Grand Clio Entertainment in the history of the industry in Mexico.
