“I streamline the process because I always want my clients to leave happy.”

Cutters Studios welcomes award-winning editor Matt Walsh to its growing roster of creative talent.  Walsh joins the Cutters team as an editor/partner.

“This wasn’t a decision I took lightly,” Walsh said. "After 11 great years, I felt it was the right time to make a move. I witnessed a surge of momentum at Cutters and I knew I couldn’t go wrong.”

And Cutters is thrilled to have him.

“I've been following Matt's rising career for quite a while and after we had the opportunity to sit down and talk I immediately knew that he was a guy we had to have,” said Cutters CEO Tim McGuire. “The partners and I are extremely pleased to have him on board helping Cutters get to where we want to go.”

While Walsh is comfortable with all types of projects, he enjoys tackling big comedy and docu-reality/unscripted campaigns.

“I love the most over the top comedy I can get my hands on,” he said. “I also like real people stuff. There is nothing more delightful than working with a real reaction to something crazy or surprising.”

Some of the campaigns he’s best known for include Bank of America, McDonald's, Kellogg’s, Bud Light, State Farm, Capital One, Advil, Sonic, OfficeMax, Greenpeace, Kraft and Wheat Thins.

He has also worked with top industry directors including Henry Alex Rubin and Clay Weiner as well as many others.

“Matt is not only an absurdly focused and funny editor, he's the kind of full service stay-with-the-job-until-you-are-fully-satisfied professional that are few and far between these days,” said director Clay Weiner. “Plus, he picked me up from the airport."

Cutters Executive producer Craig Duncan agrees... “Matt is one of the most respected and well-liked editors in the city,” said Cutters Executive Producer Craig Duncan.  “His passion and energy are infectious. Clients that work with Matt return again and again. It has been a tremendous year of growth for Cutters and the addition of Matt Walsh is helping us take that next giant step toward our overall goals.”

Walsh joins Cutters from the Whitehouse and attributes his success to the disciplined approach he takes with each job. He believes understanding the source material is paramount to his process and begins by thoroughly studying the footage before making the first cut.

“I sleep better at night when I am confident that I know the footage like the back of my hand,” he said. “I will have two, three, four or five different takes on my screen. When they want to see something else I can show them quickly,”

He also prides himself on working fast and anticipating his client’s needs. with “Clients work hard and are stretched so thin,” he said. “I streamline the process because I always want my clients to leave happy.”
