30-year-old is now editor

Cut+Run’s Georgia Dodson has officially taken the editor’s chair. Dodson’s passion for documentary and docu-style editing is evident in her contribution to last year’s Super Bowl Campaign for Prudential via Droga5 and the award-winning short documentary Meaning of Robots.

Although Georgia Dodson hails from Bland, Virginia, her life has been anything but. At 17, she escaped the Appalachian holler in which she was born; at 21, she found herself serving dinner to David Lee Roth during a blizzard on the Lower East Side. Bitten by the editing bug, she launched her career at Final Cut, where she first met Rana Martin, now EP of Cut+Run NY.

“It has been a pleasure to watch Georgia's career evolve over these years,” says Rana Martin. “Georgia is an extremely gifted editor and a wonderful person to boot. We are thrilled to kick off the new year with this announcement."

In 2010 she came to Cut+Run and, over the last two years, has assisted numerous editors including Steve Gandolfi while working on select projects as editor.

“When you work side-by-side with someone, as I have with Georgia, you really understand their depth of talent,” says Cut+Run Founder/Editor Steve Gandolfi. “I am proud to see her grow into her well deserved title of editor.”

A storyteller at heart, Dodson edited Matt Lenski's Meaning of Robots, which debuted at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival, won Best Short Documentary at the Nashville Film Festival, and screened at both South by Southwest and New Directors/New Films at MoMA. Her collaboration with directing collective Everynone on Droga5's campaign for Prudential, Day One Stories, won a Gold Lion at the 2012 Cannes International Film Festival, and landed Georgia her first Superbowl spot even before her official promotion. Her recent work includes projects for Matt Lenski and Chris Smith for agencies Euro RSCG and Droga5.
