Currys PC World’s ‘Spare the Act’ Campaign Wins Big

The 40th Annual British Arrows Awards last night celebrated the very best in British commercial film. The event was held at Battersea Evolution in London and hosted by comedian David Mitchell.

Finger Music are delighted to congratulate creative agency AMV BBDO, on their work on Currys PC World’s Christmas commercial campaign, ‘Spare the Act’. The series picked up a total of eight silver and six gold Arrows as well as the coveted Commercial of the Year award [Spare the Act: Laptop].

Finger Music produced the music for the spot, ‘Spare the Act: Cooker’ which, standalone, won one gold Arrow and five silver Arrows at this year’s awards.
John Murrell, Managing Director of Finger Music and juror at this year’s awards, comments: “Finger Music would like to extend a huge congratulations to AMV BBDO and everyone involved in the ‘Spare the Act Campaign’. It collected an unprecedented number of awards last night and we’re chuffed to say we have been involved in such a great project.”

The Finger Music team produced the music for the cheeky ad featuring Jeff Goldblum, sourcing composer David Anthony Adams for the job. The goal was to create a score with a subtle festive feel which wouldn’t distract from the effortless comedy provided by the award-winning lead.

Commenting on the brief for the music Clare McGrath, producer at Finger Music, says: “This project was about creating a piece of music that matched the tone of the ad. Jeff Goldblum acts as a mediator in a typically awkward Christmas situation, his performance is direct, cool and calm with the perfect amount of humour. The music needed to be equally subtle in its delivery in order to aid the performance and not distract from it!”

Following the awards, Finger Music hosted an after show party at The Magic Garden in Battersea for the guests still set on dancing the night away and raising a glass to another fabulous British Arrows.  Photos from the night can be viewed here.
