Common People Films announces the signing of director Thomas Van Kristen for commercial representation in the UK, following their collaboration on ‘We Burn Blue,’ an impactful campaign for Chelsea FC's latest home kit launch in partnership with Uncommon Creative Studio.
As a lifelong Chelsea supporter, Thomas channelled his love of sports into bringing both the film and the stills photography to life. Inspired by the intense blue at the heart of a flame, Thomas captures the fervour and unwavering determination of Chelsea's players, both on and off the field. The campaign was produced by Common People Films with 2nd Unit photography captured by Charlie Birch, who is also represented by Common Image.
The campaign showcases renowned talents such as Cole Palmer, Sam Kerr, and Moises Ciacedo, alongside some of Chelsea’s rising stars. With its dynamic and visually striking imagery, it heralds an exciting new era for the club.
Enhancing the film’s impact is its enthralling sound design, collaboratively crafted with acclaimed London-based producer and DJ Joy Orbison, to amplify the adrenaline and momentum of Thomas’s visuals.
Thomas is an extraordinarily talented, self-taught multidisciplinary director and photographer whose sharp eye, edgy compositions and immersive sound design have attracted collaborations with renowned brands such as Nike, Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, and Puma.
He grew up in the heart of the Austrian Alps, where he spent his formative years capturing the majesty of the surrounding mountains through his lens. It was in this sublime setting that he honed his craft, transforming the dramatic scenery into crisp, arresting visuals - an artistic precision that now defines his work.
Common People’s managing director, Melody Sylvester said, "Thomas is a weapon. He shoots stills and film with the sharpest eye I've seen in a while. He brings a dynamic aesthetic and approach to everything he does. He makes it look easy, no matter how technical the project. He is into all the things we love: fashion, sport, cars, culture. Our first collaboration with him for Chelsea FC with Uncommon Studio. We are so excited about him joining CMN PPL in the UK."
Common People’s co-founder, Ramy Dance said, "We’re over the moon to have Thomas join the CMN PPL family. I’m a huge fan of his reel and can’t wait to create some brilliant work together. His attention to detail and taste is unparalleled which is exactly what we’re all about. To top it off we’re straight into production on project number two so it's a really exciting time for us!"
