CMA unveils new ‘Outstanding International Creative’ award to recognise exceptional international campaigns originating from Canada

The Canadian Marketing Association (CMA) today announced the co-chairs for this year's CMA Awards: Mary MacIsaac, senior vice-president of marketing at Loblaw Companies Limited and Scott Pinkney, senior vice-president and executive creative director at Publicis Hawkeye Canada. Mary and Scott both bring a wealth of experience and industry expertise to their roles, ensuring the success and prestige of this year's event.

“I am not only immensely honoured to co-chair this year’s CMA Awards, I am also so very eager to see the new heights our industry achieved over the past twelve months!”

In addition to the new co-chairs, the 2024 CMA Awards will include a new award: Outstanding International Creative. This category celebrates Canadian agencies and marketing teams whose work runs outside of Canada and makes an impact on a global scale. Designed to highlight exceptional campaigns originating from Canada and executed in international markets, this award recognises the creativity and innovation of Canadian marketers and agencies. It serves as an opportunity to showcase the significant global contributions of the Canadian community.

"Our Canadian marketing community excels across our country and outside our borders. To celebrate the outstanding international creative that originates from Canada, I'm thrilled to announce a new CMA Award to recognise the top international campaigns developed by Canadian marketers or agencies. It’s a great way to highlight the global impact of our Canadian community," said Alison Simpson, president and CEO, CMA. "I'm also delighted to have Mary and Scott as co-chairs for this year’s awards. Their inspiring leadership and commitment to marketing align perfectly with the spirit of the CMA Awards. I'm excited to create an unforgettable celebration of creative excellence and innovation together.”

Mary is the senior vice-president of marketing and Loblaw brands at Loblaw Companies Limited and an experienced marketing executive with over two decades of expertise, specialising in driving share and profit growth for established and emerging brands across various industries including retail, consumer packaged goods, beverages (beer, wine, spirits), tourism, and food service.

“Year after year, members of the Canadian marketing industry generate incredible campaigns that push new boundaries, engage consumers, leverage the latest technologies, all while delivering outstanding results for their businesses,” says Mary. “I am not only immensely honoured to co-chair this year’s CMA Awards, I am also so very eager to see the new heights our industry achieved over the past twelve months!”

Scott is the senior vice-president and executive creative director at Publicis Hawkeye Canada and brings over 35 years of expertise in creative strategy, branding, and relationship marketing across markets including New York, the UK, and Toronto. He spearheaded the launch of Publicis Hawkeye in 2015, leveraging his insights in consumer behaviour and data intelligence. With notable roles at Ogilvy One, DRAFTFCB/Rivet, Mosaic Direct + Interactive, and BBDO/Proximity, Scott's career highlights include award-winning creative directorships and judging at prestigious events like Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity.

“I’m looking forward to being a part of the 2024 CMA Marketing Awards. With a track record of recognizing outstanding achievements in marketing, the CMA Awards have helped foster creativity within our industry for a long time now, and I’m confident this year will be an inspiring show,” says Scott. “I’m especially excited to see how this year’s participants innovate, and elevate, their creative ideas and solutions, giving us a glimpse into what the future of marketing has in store.”

Each year, the CMA Awards show honours marketing professionals who have set new standards and created award-winning campaigns that have made an impact in their respective industries. This year's CMA Awards will be presented at the Westin Harbour Castle on November 22, 2024. Individuals interested in being a judge for the CMA Awards can apply starting on April 8th. Entries for the 2024 CMA Awards will open May 1st.
