MacPaw, the software developer behind CleanMyMac X, has released a new nine-hour film that tackles its online critics.
‘The Deepest Clean’, from creative agency The Romans and shot by Black Revolver films, hits back at perceptions across social media that Macs don’t need cleaning and, in fact, clean themselves.
Over the course of eight hours, 57 minutes and 15 seconds, Nathan - a CleanMyMac X representative - demonstrates just how tedious and laborious it is to clean your own device, getting rid of system junk, unused apps and duplicate files.
While the multi-feature length tutorial - just 20 minutes shy of watching the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy back-to-back - could in theory put the brand out of business by showing people just how to clean their Macs, in reality it’s the tech equivalent of ‘watching paint dry’ - that demonstrates the value of having an app do your Mac cleaning for you.
Those who do persist in watching the full video are rewarded at intervals with hidden codes to get up to 30% off a CleanMyMac X subscription.
Garrett Krivicich, head of global PR at MacPaw, commented, “We noticed some comments on our social channels, as well as online forums, in which Mac users said their devices don’t need cleaning. We even commissioned a poll which showed a majority of Mac users think that cleaning their device manually to make it run more quickly and efficiently would take just an hour. In fact, by the time you’ve used your device for a year or more, the process could take upwards of 24 hours.”
“Our objective with this film is to show users that life is much easier when you let the professionals do the tedious work for you.”
CleanMyMac X safely scans every inch of a Mac’s system and removes gigabytes of junk, large hidden files, old archives, unused apps and malware in just a few seconds.
