Portuguese-Australian director Chloe de Brito has packed a lot into her freshman years of filmmaking
From shooting her debut on-location foreign language short Edo at age 18 to directing award-winning music videos, Chloe saw her experiences culminate in her latest short Pink Reef, which screened in festivals around the world. Chloe has had films exhibited at the Powerhouse Museum, ACMI and BFI London, and won awards from Rolling Stone and Clipped to Best Direction from the ADG.

In 2023 she was selected by Playlab Films to head into the jungle of Mexico to work with iconic Thai director Apichatpong Weerasethakul (Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives, Memoria), and the same year was shortlisted for the Adelaide Film Festival Expand Lab moving-image commission from Samstag. Most recently, Chloe collaborated on her first Collider project for Spencer Outlet Centre, where she created a bold and stylised world through movement, character and vivid CG.

Rachael Ford Davies said, “I’ve been a fan of Chloe’s from the moment I saw a mermaid hanging out in a neon, pastel-soaked bathtub, talking on a shellphone in her short, Pink Reef. She’s cool, vivacious and intelligent and I couldn’t be more excited to launch her into the world as the newest member of the Collider family.”

Chloe said, “I’ve always had such adoration for Collider’s wonderfully curated roster, so I’m honoured to have been welcomed with open arms. I love the place where art and story collide, so I’ve found the perfect home to experiment and create!”
