CHI&Partners Hires BBH’s Toby Brewer as Creative Director

CHI&Partners has hired Toby Brewer, the creative talent behind famous campaigns including Harvey Nichols’ ‘Contain Your Excitement’ and ‘Headless Chickens’, and Volkswagen ‘Start Stop’.
 
Joining from BBH, Brewer will take the role of Creative Director at CHI&Partners, working closely with creative partners across key accounts. 
 
Prior to joining BBH London in 2014, Brewer worked at Adam & Eve / DDB, where his work for Harvey Nichols helped produce all-time record sales for the retailer, as well as picking up awards including a Silver Cannes Lion, Gold and Silver the Campaign BIG Awards, and Gold at Eurobest. Other campaigns he created at Adam & Eve DDB include Volkswagen’s independent film series “Made for Real Life, Not the Movies”. The three short-film-style executions ‘Bus’, ‘Chase’ and ‘Explosion’ ran in cinemas from 2014 to 2015, highlighting the robustness of Volkswagen’s safety features by contrasting them with high-octane cinematic car and bus chases. The series received accolades including Gold at the Epica Awards, and Bronze at the Clio Awards and Eurobest.
 
Brewer cited CHI&Partners’ new creative process as a key reason for joining – after the agency split up creative teams earlier this year in favour of a more fluid and collaborative approach.
 
“The opportunity to work across multiple accounts and campaigns is a great way of allowing creatives to super-charge their careers,” said Brewer, “as well as leading to fresher, braver and far more exciting work – such as the Lexus Hoverboard. CHI is also fearlessly channel-agnostic, which was a huge draw – as was the management team’s focus on nurturing people as well as ideas.”
