Sergi Castellà directs Angélica Garcia's video for the latest release from her debut album ‘Gemelo’, titled ‘Color De Dolor’.

The title, translating as "Colour of Pain," sets the tone for Sergis' direction. The video intricately weaves an emotional tapestry for Angelica's visuals, highlighting themes of duality and spirituality that resonate with the artist, and are ubiquitous throughout the album.

Angélica describes the track itself as a testament to “my philosophy of life,” an anthem for processing how pain and beauty, rage and peace, sadness and joy all form the colours with which we render and process existence. “Sometimes you need contrast when you paint,” she explained. “To a certain extent, we have a choice of how we frame things. Pain can be another colour, and the more colours I have— whether it’s pain, pleasure, happiness—it just means that I lived.”

Sergi said, "Color de dolor” is a powerful song that delves into the depths, giving voice to Angélica’s ancestral echoes. We at Caviar fell in love with it the moment we heard it.

Working with Angélica to craft a film for it has been an incredible journey, where we've dove together into the artist's ancestral well, searching for beauty in pain.

She once told me that with every music video she creates, she immerses herself in the essence of the song, so making “Color de dolor” was going to be a challenge. However, both my team at Caviar and Angélica are amazing artists, and I believe we created some beauty.”

Raised in El Monte by Mexican and El Salvadoran parents, Garcia has been surrounded by music her entire life - her mother was an artist who had a top 40 Hot 100 hit and her stepfather was in A&R prior to becoming a priest. Already she’s earned praise from the New York Times,Rolling Stone,Vanity Fair`, a debut a tNPR’s Tiny Desk, space on Barack Obama’s annual best-of-the-year roundup with her cross cultural anthem “Jicama” along with syncs at Apple, HBO, tour dates with Mitski, Vagabon and beyond. Now, with growth and exploration like wind behind her, Garcia has arrived at her clearest and most fully-realised vision of self.

It’s clear Angélica has a major Spring and Summer in store, but she also has live plays across the UK this summer and will perform at The Great Escape Festival in May. She’s also fresh off the heels of debuting a brand new live show configuration supporting Estevie and then playing SXSW in Austin, where she performed for Stereogum, School Night, KCRW, KUTX, KEXP.
