The European Association of Communications Agencies (EACA) has announced that, following approval by members at its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 29th April, Caroline Howe, CEO of Ogilvy Health EMEA and UK and chair of EACA’s Health Communications Council, has been appointed to the board of directors as a non-executive director.
Caroline has chaired EACA’s Health Communications Council since 2023 and brings a wealth of strategic insight from her role on the management committee. Her appointment reinforces EACA’s focus on elevating health creativity and effectiveness, championing accessibility, and advancing inclusive leadership across Europe’s communications sector.
“It’s a true honour to join the EACA Board”, said Caroline Howe. “Creative excellence and effectiveness in health communications has the power to change perceptions, drive equity in care and improve lives. I look forward to continuing to champion the value of purpose-driven creativity and working with our European peers to ensure agencies across all disciplines are seen, heard, and supported”.
Caroline joins a truly talented board of directors including Christian de la Villehuchet, global chief integration officer and global chief client at Havas, Charley Stoney, CEO of EACA, Johan Boserup, global CEO of Investment at Omnicom Media Group, Doris Danner, vice president at TBWA Worldwide, Caroline Fontaine, director general of AACC France and Radu Florescu, CEO of Centrade Cheil Romania. Together, they bring a wealth of industry experience and regional insight, shaping EACA’s strategic direction and representing over 2,500 communications agencies across Europe.
At the AGM, EACA’s president Christian de la Villehuchet took the opportunity to highlight EACA’s key achievements throughout 2024. Last year, EACA reinforced its role as the leading voice of European communications agencies through several high-impact initiatives. The launch of the EACA Young Board empowered emerging talent to shape the future of the industry, while the second Sentiment Survey captured insights from nearly 4,000 professionals, spotlighting key issues around retention, wellbeing, and values. Sustainability remained a core focus, with Ad Net Zero Europe expanding to eight national chapters. And in a landmark celebration of effectiveness, EACA hosted the second in-person Effie Awards Europe Gala since the pandemic, bringing the industry back together to honour campaigns that deliver real impact. This edition of the Effies saw one of the highest levels of participation to date, a clear sign of the growing commitment among advertisers and agencies to demonstrate the value and effectiveness of our industry.
“Caroline is a formidable leader who understands the value of creativity with purpose. Her voice at Board level will be instrumental in our mission to defend and elevate European agencies on every front: commercially, ethically, and socially. At a time when our sector is called upon to innovate, inspire and lead, her presence will help us do just that”, highlighted Christian de la Villehuchet.
Charley Stoney, CEO, EACA then informed members about the 2025-2027 strategy and outlined plans for the year ahead: EACA will strengthen its ties with EU policymakers as the new five-year legislative cycle begins, ensuring agencies’ voices are heard on key topics. A white paper on the real cost of pitching will be released in May, and the organisation will continue to prioritise inclusion and equality, support agencies in navigating the impact of AI, promoting the broader economic and societal value of advertising across Europe.
“One of the great privileges of leading EACA is working alongside exceptional talent from across the continent like Caroline and the other members of the Board. Her expertise in health, combined with her commitment to inclusion and effectiveness, makes her an incredible addition to the EACA family. We are continuing to build a future where agencies shape the agenda, not just respond to it. That starts with having the right people in the room, and I couldn’t be more pleased to welcome Caroline to the table”, added Charley Stoney.
