'Worry' is a VHS tape of some of the most hilariously uncomfortable moments you can get at a casting session
Tom Clarkson continues his unstoppable run with this new video for the BRIT award-winner and BBC sound of 2016, Jack Garratt. Tom also directed jack Garratt’s video for Chemical, as well as Seafret’s Wildfire.
The video is a VHS tape of some of the most hilariously uncomfortable moments you can get at a casting session. Jack’s low key performance is peppered throughout the casting session until things take a surprising turn!
Clarkson explained: "I was working on a commercial about 6 months ago and I couldn’t make it to the casting session, so the footage was sent to me from the studio. I had never viewed a casting session that way before, completely detached from it and it was so interesting to watch! Each person brought their own interpretation of the source material and their own level of enthusiasm or character or emotion. Then in between their performance you catch intenselyhonest moments of vulnerability. The idea of telling a story entirely through casting sessions became a really interesting one, the thought that those different interpretations could combine to tell a complete picture. And then that the vulnerability and intensity of the casting process could heighten that."
He added: "When Jack asked for a pitch on Worry I knew that this was the right fit. The track was perfect for the idea…as with all of Jack's music, it has a huge emotional heart but with enough light and shade within the production to bring our visual moments to life. Also, Jack’s always been extremely supportive of creative approaches to music videos and I knew that this would be one he’d enjoy.
"All the actors were incredible and offered us even more during the auditions. I have so much new found respect for what they do, especially after hearing some of their horror stories from different auditions they’ve had!"
