Bullion director James Willis teams up with Anomaly to film a touching documentary
Anomaly initially engaged Bullion director James Willis for a three minute content piece for their client Budweiser. They approached the club Sholing FC under the guise of shooting a documentary on grassroots football, something close to James’ heart, but with a surprise reveal. Budweiser had hand selected the club to receive a ‘super grant’ of £100k. The Wessex Premier League side, were unable to be promoted, not for the football, but due to the conditions of their facilities. The film was so well received by the client that it’s now going on air as a 90 second and 2.40 TVC over the FA Cup final half time break this weekend.

The film shows James absolutely in his element. His initial passion project with Thomas Turgoose for his hometown club Grimsby Town was what drew Anomaly to his work, and he has delivered something just as special. The authenticity of the piece is reflected in the subjects, individuals who have lived and breathed the club, benefiting so much from it. Their genuine reactions after the reveal are beautifully captured. It brings a tear to the eye to see how much this gesture means to a small home grown club.
