Budweiser and Sir Peter Blake are giving people the chance to own a piece of timeless art

Today, The King of Beers, Budweiser announces it is joining forces with legendary artist Sir Peter Blake, the godfather of British Pop Art. The two icons of culture unite to launch an exclusive limited-edition beer can which doubles as a collectible piece of Pop Art.

With this exciting launch, Budweiser and Sir Peter Blake are giving people the chance to own a piece of timeless art.

A leader and pioneer of the Pop Art movement alongside Warhol and Lichtenstein, Sir Peter Blake has created some of pop culture’s most celebrated imagery and music album covers, including The Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band and Oasis’ Stop the Clocks.

Throughout his illustrious career, Sir Peter Blake has stayed true to the origins of the Pop Art movement; creating art that is accessible to all. Drawing inspiration from consumer culture and popular taste in his art; Blake embraced the opportunity to work with Budweiser, an American cultural icon.

Budweiser is synonymous with American popular culture and has featured in film, TV, art, music and sport throughout the 20th and 21st centuries. Enjoyed by Mick Jagger on his tours with the Rolling Stones, by Tom Cruise in Top Gun, the beer has featured in many episodes of The Simpsons and Budweiser even coined the now famous pop culture catch phrase ‘Whassup!’.

Just as the Pop Art movement made art accessible to all, Budweiser, brewed to be universally popular, has made high quality beer for all to enjoy since 1876.

As the perfect vessel for Sir Peter Blake’s work, the Pop Art can’s beauty lies in its eye-catching simplicity, featuring Budweiser's iconic red bow tie logo, encompassed by the artist's signature use of block colours and icons inspired by 1960s youth culture.

Commenting on the collaboration, Sir Peter Blake CBE RDI RA said, “I have always believed in the power of art to transcend boundaries and connect with people from all walks of life, so I am thrilled to partner with Budweiser, an American cultural icon. We are bringing Pop Art back to its roots and putting it in the hands of the masses through this limited-edition can, inviting everyone to appreciate the beauty of art in their everyday lives”

To unveil the new piece of art in all its glory, Budweiser is introducing the world’s first fridge frame. Reminiscent of a museum exhibit; the frame is designed to display the limited-edition can as a work of art, while keeping the beer cool.

The unveiling will take place at London’s Truman Brewery on Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th March. The fridge frame will offer beer lovers and art enthusiasts alike the opportunity to get their hands on the limited-edition can, with 10 hand-signed cans by Sir Peter Blake also randomly given away throughout the weekend.

Jessica McGeorge, global brands director at Budweiser added, “We’re proud to launch this iconic collaboration with the legend that is Sir Peter Blake, marking a fusion of his artistic excellence and our cultural legacy, allowing people to own a piece of Pop Art history while enjoying a smooth, refreshing Budweiser.

We are excited to invite beer lovers and art aficionados to come together and experience the Pop Art can, with the world’s first fridge frame.”

To exhibit the collectable piece of art at home, Budweiser is also giving people the chance to own their very own exclusive fridge frame. Beer and art lovers can register their interest by visiting here.

For those unable to attend the exhibition, four-can packs, brewed and canned in the UK, featuring the collaboration between Budweiser and Sir Peter Blake are now available exclusively at participating Tesco supermarkets across the UK, for a limited time only.
