BRW USA, Los Angeles director Roman Valent transforms everyday business problems into climactic opera ballads in the witty new :55 “Mr. San” for Telenor out of &Co., Denmark, produced through Armada Films. The spot takes a clever spin on a very ordinary task and features a buttoned-up businessman sprucing up a mundane work phone call by theatrically belting it center stage, backed up by a complete philharmonic orchestra. Valent’s cinematic storytelling has previously earned him top industry accolades from Cannes, NY Festivals, Epica, Golden Drum and LIA for his international commercial work for top brands including T-Mobile, Suzuki and Café Noir.
“Mr. San” opens on an aerial view of an orchestra performing in an ornate theater along with the “Hello Business” graphic and Telenor logo. We cut to the rigid executive, who manages to convert a cumbersome call requesting a shoe shipment from Tokyo to Holstebro into a Tony-worthy tenor performance complete with stellar vibrato and dramatic arm gestures. Following the compelling performance, the man on the other end of the call is moved to tears as we see the super, “Is there anything more beautiful than the sound of a customer? Renmobil.” The spot closes with the “Hello Business” graphic followed by the Telenor logo.
