Bruno Carneiro da Cunha Returns to Ogilvy as CSO of Ogilvy Miami

Bruno tells Addison Capper why working at the intersection of Latin America and the U.S. “makes this opportunity so special,” and shares his ambitions for the role

Bruno Carneiro da Cunha, a seasoned advertising strategist with experience at Crispin, David & Goliath, 360i, and The Community, has joined Ogilvy Miami as chief strategy officer. Part of the Ogilvy Latina regional network, he will report to Arlene Armenteros, general manager of Ogilvy Miami, and Thais Frazao, CSO of Ogilvy Latina.

“It was the right time and place for me,” says Bruno, speaking with LBB. “I believe we can make Ogilvy Miami a very attractive and potent hub for creativity. My ambition is to level up our strategic chops, grow the team, do great work—and have fun while at it.”

Prior to joining Ogilvy Miami, Bruno spent a period in marketing and communications planning at AT&T. Earlier in his career, he also spent time brand-side as creative excellence manager at Coca-Cola Brazil. These experiences, he says, have shaped a more collaborative and open-sourced approach to strategy. “As a client, you really come to understand that marketing is much more than just advertising—it's a complex, multi-layered, cross-functional machinery. So, I’m always looking for ways to involve clients early and continuously throughout the process, creating more cross-pollination between all sides.”

Being part of the team in Miami, with its links to the wider US, but directly part of the Ogilvy Latina team, which primarily operates in Latin America, is also something that “makes this opportunity so special”. Working across two regions, he says, makes the role even more dynamic—allowing strategy to operate at different altitudes. “At a high level, finding regional insights and tensions, human truths that are shared across regions. And then downwards, requiring us to dig for local expressions that will make our work resonate at a market level. Navigating between the regions requires cultural fluency, which is a big differentiator for Ogilvy Miami.”

The move to Ogilvy marks somewhat of a homecoming for Bruno. A key period of his career was spent at Ogilvy, where he rose the ranks from a digital strategist in London to head of planning at Ogilvy Brazil over the course of seven-and-a-half years. Enthused by the opportunity to return, he points to Ogilvy's global stability as a key point of appeal. "In an industry marked by mergers," he says, "Ogilvy stands the test of time."
