Brothers & Sisters has launched a specialist sports agency, Brothers & Sisters Sports Club, in response to a number of new business wins that reflect the agency’s extensive background and expertise in creating cultural fame for brands investing in sport.
The division kicks off with launch client WTA Ventures, the global rights holder and commercial arm of the Women’s Tennis Association, a partnership which comes just a few months after Brothers & Sisters won broadcaster TNT Sports.
Brothers & Sisters Sports Club will offer a range of end-to-end marketing services for clients looking to maximise the value of their rights investments across a wide array of sport properties, from rights holders to broadcasters to gaming brands.
It launches with Robert Tansey, former brand director at Sky and chairman of the Tour De France-winning Team Sky, taking up the position of chairman. Brothers & Sisters was a creative partner of Sky Sports for 17 years, overseeing the successful creative exploitation of more than £20bn of sports rights. Together with Tansey they made the record-breaking Time Traveller Sky Sports campaign with Thierry Henry to promote the Premier League.
The agency will be based in the London office of Brothers & Sisters and will continue to operate under the Brothers & Sisters not for profit principles. A managing director will be announced in January.
Brothers & Sisters, the brains behind TNT Sports’ Only Sport Can Do This creative, last month launched their latest work with Nike for Grenfell Athletic, the football club created for the survivors and bereaved of 2017’s Grenfell Tower disaster.
Andy Fowler, founder and ECD, Brothers & Sisters, said, “At a time when investment in sport is growing globally and everyone wants to find an edge to maximise the value of their rights, we don’t think the answer is just about data. We believe creativity is a commercial accelerator and that’s why our clients have trusted us with £20 billion of sports rights. Robert understands this better than most, having been our client on some of our most outstanding work, and we are more than excited to work with him again.”
Robert Tansey, chairman, Brothers & Sisters Sports Club, said, “I’m delighted to be working with Brothers & Sisters again. They have consistently proved themselves as the very best creators of sports campaigns and, with the launch of Sports Club, we can now bring that expertise to a broader range of sporting clients.”
