The British Arrows took place at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London on Thursday March 30th.
The longest running advertising industry awards focusing on moving image only, celebrated its 47th outing at a gala awards event hosted by Rylan who was a huge hit with the audience of the industry’s greatest from all disciplines.
Fully CG graphics for the night were created by Freefolk and were perfectly in sync with the lighting design, producing a dramatic backdrop for the winners to claim their awards against.
Pioneers in championing, awarding and celebrating the innovation, bravery and artistry of moving image advertising, the British Arrows is the most respected of all the British advertising awards and unique in that it is the only awards body solely dedicated to moving image advertising. Consequently winning an Arrow is no mean feat and the competition was as tough as ever this year.
Winning highlights include CALM x ITV’s, The Last Photo made for adam&eveDDB by cain&abelDDB and directed by Rogue’s Max Fisher which picked up a staggering ten arrows including Commercial of the Year and a silver arrow for direction in the Frank Budgen Award.
Somesuch director Kim Gehrig took home the sought after Fellowship Award and her film, The Greatest, for Apple won a gold arrow for Best Over 90 Second Commercial.
Agency of the Year went to adam&eveDDB, production company of the Year went to Biscuit Filmworks for the second year running and 750mph also celebrated back to back wins being awarded Craft Company of the Year.
This was the last Arrows for current co-chairs Clare Donald and Jani Guest whose tenure has come to an end after four years.
Clare Donald spoke about how proud she is not only of the Arrows but of the work created by the British Advertising Industry overall. She said, "we are incredibly proud of the British Arrows and British advertising, we continue to see the work go from strength to strength. We have great clients, brave clients, great agencies clients, great production companies as well as all the talented crafts people who work hard to make the incredible films we saw this evening."
Jani Guest paid tribute to the team behind the Arrows and commented, "The British Arrows would not be what it is today without the amazing team who run it. Managing Director Lisa Lavender, Operations Manager Sergio Colina-Restrepo and Head of Partnerships Sophie Cantopher. They genuinely believe the Arrows is the best advertising show representing the best in British talent”.
