Social Enterprise café Fair Shot takes centre stage for the launch of ‘Local Legends’, a new advertising campaign created and funded by Brave Spark to celebrate businesses making a difference in their communities.
Brave Spark has devised the ‘Local Legends’ series to provide community businesses with bespoke social content, using its unique blend of thinkers and makers to create films that showcase the people behind the charities, restaurants and independent retailers selected to feature by Brave Spark staff.
Chosen by Brave Spark creative Margaux Dalgleish, Fair Shot is a social enterprise café based in Covent Garden that helps young adults with learning disabilities find jobs that cater to their skills through a training and employment programme.
A UK-registered charity, Fair Shot provides year-long Supported Internship Programmes to people with learning disabilities, growing the next generation of skilled baristas and expert café assistants. After the programme, the organisation finds graduates paid employment with forward-thinking employers and keeps supporting all parties involved for the following six months.
Having opened its doors in 2021, Fair Shot has now supported 34 young adults out of the unemployment cycle, with 10,050 hours of training completed each year.
Brave Spark’s launch campaign puts Fair Shot staff front and centre, celebrating the energy and atmosphere of its Slingsby Place café, where 100% of sales goes back into empowering young adults with learning disabilities and/or autism.
In addition to a hero film that will be used for promotional activity and hosted on the Fair Shot website, Brave Spark has shot and edited a ‘Socially Good’ series of films for Fair Shot’s social channels, covering ‘People’, ‘Programme’ and ‘Purpose’, where the charity’s leaders are interviewed alongside current programme learners and graduates.
Robin Shek, Co-founder of Brave Spark, says: “Our mission is to create work that makes a real impact, so who better to work with to kick off our ‘Local Legends’ campaign than our Covent Garden neighbours, Fair Shot? Fair Shot have made a massive impact since launching, truly transforming people’s lives – and they make a damn good cup of coffee too. The team had a blast shooting and editing these films and we can’t wait to see them out in the world.”
Bianca Tavella, founder and CEO of Fair Shot, says: “At Fair Shot we want to create a society where adults with learning disabilities and autism have an equal and fair chance at obtaining and maintaining employment. We’re incredibly proud of our cohorts and want to share our mission and work further, so it’s been fantastic to partner with Brave Spark for their ‘Local Legends’ campaign. The films really bring to life the energy of the café and our team, and everyone had a lot of fun making them. Who knew we had a team of budding actors, as well as baristas!?”
Brave Spark will continue its ‘Local Legends’ series by asking its staff to nominate further businesses that mean something to them. The agency has a long history in supporting projects that its staff are passionate about, and last month funded and created a campaign for Voting Counts to encourage more young people to vote in the UK General Election.
Rob Drake, co-founder of Brave Spark, says, “When people come to work at Brave Spark, we want them to make work that truly matters to them. With our team of thinkers and makers under one roof we’re able to create brilliant content at speed, and whilst we’re lucky enough to work with some of the UK’s biggest brands, we want to use these skills to help local businesses tell their stories too. Hopefully our ‘Local Legends’ campaign will do just that.”
