Boxer Films has signed Paris and now L.A.-based director Julien Rocher for his first-ever U.S. commercial representation. Rocher has helmed notable campaigns across Europe for Renault, Adidas, Ubisoft, Nissan and PlayStation to name a few. A dynamic filmmaker, he’s as adroit with comedy as he is artful visuals.
Says Boxer Films EP Beth George, “Julien has the ability to create remarkably cinematic worlds that you want to step into. We’re thrilled to be working with him.” Adds Rocher, “I try to avoid clichés, but sometimes clichés work—they exist for a reason. I always aim to create something original with a foundation in strong, tested visual storytelling. For me, striking that balance makes for the best advertising.”
Julien Rocher grew up in the south of France in a family of filmmakers. His first job in film was as an assistant editor then editor in Paris. There, he cut a popular TV show for several years before transitioning to DP and later director for Jacques Cousteau’s aquatic adventure series on TF1 and France 5. This project took him across the globe highlighting the mysteries of the ocean. Commercial work came soon after through Astrolab Films and Wanda Productions.
Using his experience as a writer and cinematographer, his work is often highly cinematic supported by strong storytelling. Rocher is also currently developing his first feature film.
