UNIT9 and Wallbox – a global technology company that creates advanced electric vehicle charging and energy management systems – have seemingly brought the iconic Boudica statue near Big Ben to life with one of its chargers.
In the video, we see a Wallbox billboard that reads 'Get in Charge' next to the statue. The billboard features a Wallbox EV Charger with its cable connecting to the base of the sculpture. The Wallbox charger begins a charging cycle, its halo softly glowing. With each cycle, the sculpture undergoes a transformation, shifting into different powerful poses.
But, of course, the statue hasn’t really developed a life of its own. Instead, it is a realistic 3D render from UNIT9
The social VFX stunt is part of the brand’s wider 'Get in Charge' campaign.
Javier Raino, CMO of Wallbox said, “Wallbox exists to help each and every one of us make the transition to electric cars and charging. We’re aware that this is a very ambitious challenge, and in order to really face it head-on and put our money where our mouth is, we partnered with an equally disruptive and ambitious agency Unit9, to bring this to life in a way that is true to the Wallbox spirit. In many ways the piece speaks for itself - it’s the perfect blend of old and new, a reinterpretation of how what the seeds we’re planting now will grow and one day make history.”
Zofia Mackiewicz, creative director at UNIT9, “We worked directly with Wallbox to craft a topical VFX stunt starring London’s iconic Boudica statue that brings to life the brand’s Get In Charge campaign strategy. The collaboration exemplifies the essence of the overarching campaign by blending digital artistry and reality.”
