BONAPARTE Signs Alena Shevchenko to US Roster
Production company BONAPARTE welcomes visionary writer and director Alena Shevchenko to its roster for US representation. Berlin-based and Moscow-born, Alena’s skills have been recognised at film festivals across the world.
Alena began her career as a director by shooting backstage at fashion shows, becoming immersed within the culture and the artists who contribute to it. Her personal collection of references and inspiration has blossomed from this point, growing into an impressive collection of art, film and her own photography. It is from this catalogue that Alena often draws out ideas for her latest projects, putting together pieces to inform and develop strong characters and narratives.
Developing an unafraid, authentic, and ambitious style, Alena’s music video and commercial portfolio features boundary-pushing work for the likes of Bumble, Nike and Womanizer. Across the board, her films are underscored by her love of fashion, dance, irony, and comedy.
Raised by her mother and grandmother, Alena’s upbringing in a female-only household shaped her creativity and understanding of the world, instilling in her a drive to represent women’s stories and perspectives. Her short film, ‘Sorry I’m Late I Was Masturbating’, tackles taboos around female masturbation and self pleasure, bringing audiences on a journey of self-discovery accompanied by dance sequences, comedy and an animated climax sequence.
Celebrated for her talents in this realm, Alena’s shorts have been recognised at some of the world’s major fashion and short film festivals including YDA, The Palm Springs International ShortFest, Aesthetica Film Festival, Shanghai International Film Festival and Berlin Commercial.
As part of BONAPARTE, Alena will work alongside brands and agencies to tell compelling stories with her signature flair and style. Alena is also developing a script for a feature film, as well as working on a new personal project entitled ‘Oral Pleasure’, which follows a woman's journey as she attempts to free herself from suspected demonic influence.
