Émile Moutaud directs Blondshell’s new music video starring Ghjuvanna Benedetti.
In 'Event of a Fire,' the latest music video from Blondshell, director Émile Moutaud delivers a raw, intimate portrait of emotional tension beneath the surface. Starring rising actress Ghjuvanna Benedetti, the film captures the quiet storm within a young diver, navigating the strict discipline of her team while silently unravelling inside.
“I wanted to shoot something real,” says Émile. “To immerse myself in a real diving team. To film real athletes, and let real interactions happen. A real relationship to the body, showing it as it is. And through all of that, follow one girl’s emotional journey - stripping away everything else to focus entirely on her experience.”
A Delicate Balance of Control and Emotion
Shot with an almost documentary sensitivity, Émile’s direction blends the authenticity of lived experience with the emotional precision of fiction. The team’s synchronised movements become ritualistic, almost hypnotic - a visual contrast to the heroine’s inner unrest.
We follow her through silent locker rooms, fleeting glances, moments of doubt and withdrawal. The routine of the group becomes a backdrop for a story about solitude, pressure, and quiet rebellion. Sound fades, gestures slow, and emotion takes over.
"Teitelbaum’s music leans heavily on ’90s alternative aesthetics and her lyrics can be impressionistic or straightforwardly narrative, but they’re consistently ruptured by off-kilter imagery or flashes of deadpan humour. This is part of the singer’s balancing act: She counters the weight of her material with wryness; the bluster of vintage rock (she loves a guitar solo) with unguarded intimacy."
