Ben Murray takes us to the movies with a blockbuster show stopping global campaign for the T20 Cricket World cup.
Steaming fresh from the mould of a Michael Bay action flick, Sports creative agency MATTA and Bullion Productions have created a globe-trotting so second ad that would feel at home in any multiplex.
Ben Murray, known for his work with People Just do Nothing and the writer/showrunner on the critically acclaimed BBC comedy Peacock, has channelled his inner Christopher Nolan to hypercharge the once reserved pastime of ever idyllic villages in the UK, Cricket.
But this is the T20 a high-octane remix of the beloved British pastime, more drama and excitement and closer to baseball in its pace and energy, the T20 Cricket world cup is about to hit the American shores, this year hosted in The US and Caribbean alike.
The ad is aimed squarely at the foreheads of a younger American audience without leaving out the hardcore Asian fanbase.
“I wanted to make something thick with character archetypes, a great way to talk to a new global audience and across cultures. I loved the film Don’t Look Up, it does a great job of retaining a sense of humour throughout. In a similar way I wanted to undercut and subvert the disaster movie motif that informs this spot, before paying it off with an unexpected reveal.” said Ben Murray.
The film was shot in South Africa over three days and showcases a wide variety of the locations on offer. From a Trinidadian family gathering, to the iconic streets of New York. The ad is running worldwide and will be the flagship call to action for the sporting event.
