There has been extensive debate and discussion on the state of talent in the world of advertising agencies. Who’s staying? Who’s going? What is the quality of client-agency partnerships? Can agencies compete with the likes of Google, Facebook and other tech companies in the battle for the best marketing talent?
It is not hyperbole to state that the quality and motivation of talent within an agency has never been more important. Yet, with ever-increasing financial pressure, most agencies have reduced their investment in talent and leader development.
While a longstanding point of differentiation for BBH has been the quality of its talent, BBH New York is very proud to announce an even greater emphasis on the development of its people. Today the agency announces Armando Turco’s promotion to the BBH North America Head of Talent.
Turco, a BBH veteran of 8 years, was chosen for the role not only for his longtime immersion in the agency’s culture, but also for the unique perspective he brings as a seasoned agency leader, who understands how to assemble, develop and lead successful teams to achieve their best work and drive a client’s business.
Turco’s responsibilities overseeing all of talent management will not only include operations and recruitment, but also career development, education, culture enrichment, and more. He’ll report directly to Pat Lafferty, CEO, BBH North America. “Cultivating and championing our talent has always been a priority at BBH. We truly believe that hiring and developing the most amazing, smart, creative, all-around good people is critical to our ongoing success. In the wake of an incredible growth year both creatively and fiscally, increased emphasis on people and leader development was an essential next step,” said Lafferty. “Armando takes so much pride in the BBH brand and has an intimate understanding of the culture here. He truly knows what it takes for a person to thrive and succeed as a ‘black sheep,’ so selecting him for this role was a natural choice.”
During Armando’s tenure, he has amassed diverse experiences with clients like Sony PlayStation, Unilever (Axe), LG, Sprite, Johnnie Walker, Baileys and Miller Lite.
Assuming the post of BBH NY Head of Account Management will be Torrey La Grange, current Global Business Director at BBH New York since 2013. A creative marketer with a deep understanding of executing marketing and communications programs from strategic development to tactical delivery, La Grange will take over her new role effective immediately. During her tenure, she has worked on BBH clients Axe, Vaseline, and Robinson’s Fruit Shoot. Having held previous positions with Tangerine, JWT, Saatchi & Saatchi, Publicis and more, La Grange’s vast industry knowledge will provide a diverse perspective.
“Torrey is an incredible leader. Her experience guiding complex, global and domestic client and agency teams and her natural pursuit of great work make her the ideal person to take on the leadership of Account Management at BBH NY,” said Lafferty. “I’m thrilled to have her join the agency’s leadership team.”
